The Corner Coworking and Reconfigure Create Cochrane Alberta's Community Driven Ergonomic Demo Space

A Community‑Driven Ergonomic Demo Space

1. Opening: Purpose, Values, and Partnership

Hudson Ergonomics is excited to collaborate with The Corner Coworking in Cochrane and Reconfigure Office Furniture and Design in Calgary to bring a practical, community‑focused ergonomic demo space to life. The Corner Coworking is built on the values of connection, collaboration, and community, while Reconfigure’s approach of refresh, revitalize, reconfigure aligns perfectly with our goal of proactively improving productivity and safety.

2. The Opportunity: Seeing Potential in Community Workspaces

When Shane from Hudson Ergonomics first walked into The Corner Coworking, the potential was immediately clear. Their flexible workspace model allows small businesses to use the space they need, when they need it—an ideal environment for ergonomic improvement.

A key moment came in fall 2025 during a visit to Reconfigure for a presentation by ergoCentric’s Lucy Hart. That’s when the idea began to form: local businesses need access to good ergonomic furniture, but many communities surrounding major cities often end up with whatever is available, donated, or budget-friendly—not necessarily what supports long-term worker health.

3. Identifying the Gap: Access vs. Awareness

The Corner Coworking serves many businesses, sees daily foot traffic through its UPS drop‑off location, and often gets questions about the workspace. Yet the furniture—like many shared spaces—was built from miscellaneous donations. This disconnect between what people need and what ends up in a workspace is common.

At the same time, vendors like Reconfigure face geographical constraints that limit hands‑on exposure to high‑quality ergonomic products. This partnership created a solution to both challenges.

4. Why ergoCentric + Reconfigure?

Reconfigure is a vendor of ergoCentric furniture and accessories, and Hudson Ergonomics has long trusted the brand. We use an ergoCentric chair in our home office and frequently recommend it for clients who need body‑specific customization. Bringing this equipment into a coworking space allows more people to experience proper fit—not just read about it.

5. The Transformation: Before and After

Before

  • Manual IKEA‑style desks, 24" deep

  • Single monitors

  • Basic chair with no armrests and limited adjustability

After

  • Two ergoCentric electric height‑adjustable desks

  • Zcentric monitor arms with space for dual setups and laptops

  • Two ergonomic chair models: the T‑centric and airCentric

This upgrade offers far more than aesthetics—it ensures that any worker who drops into the space can tailor it to their body and work tasks.

6. What This Achieves for the Community

This demo space accomplishes three important goals:

1. A Better User Experience

Two of the most visible desks in The Corner Coworking are now fully customizable. Anyone working there can adjust the space to fit their needs, improving comfort and supporting productivity.

2. Increased Community Access to Quality Ergonomic Solutions

Reconfigure expands its footprint in a location with daily traffic—meaning more people can see, touch, and test some of their most commonly recommended products.

3. On‑Site Ergonomic Support

Hudson Ergonomics remains available to help workers adjust setups, minimize discomfort, and ensure their environment supports long-term productivity and well-being.

7. Closing: A Model for Community‑Centered Ergonomics

This collaboration highlights what becomes possible when community, workplace design, and ergonomics come together with intention. Each partner plays a distinct role in supporting better work environments:

  • The Corner Coworking offers flexible, community‑minded workspace options and welcomes individuals and small businesses who want to experience the upgraded demo stations firsthand.

  • Reconfigure Office Furniture and Design provides access to high‑quality ergoCentric furniture and accessories for anyone looking to explore, purchase, or customize ergonomic products.

  • Hudson Ergonomics supports workers and organizations with assessments, workstation set‑ups, and guidance to ensure people use these tools in ways that reduce discomfort and sustain productivity.

Together, these partners demonstrate a practical, accessible model for improving how people work—one community space at a time.
